soaked in oxygen. an era of damp lily pads
under navy sky lit by doting stars
hazy lows of willow branches
pale rocks drowned in moss.
under navy sky lit by doting stars
veins of green form a constellation
pale rocks drowned in moss.
remain in the radiation
veins of green form a constellation
bright flowers in a damp marsh
remain in the radiation
flower by the mention of a name.
bright flowers in a damp marsh
the lily pads drink, they do not thirst.
flower by the mention of a name.
soaked in oxygen. an era of damp lily pads
Paragraph
alligators in a river of milk
blink at the rising sun, spill
into my morning cup of coffee.
before I put on my shoes
they tie my laces in a knot and weave
my hair into a nest for the birds
that clean their teeth. when I go outside,
they dip into my shadow, watched
as I learned algebra and never disappeared
they used to make cookies, hid
chocolate chips all around the house.
now they waddle in yellow rain boots
through puddles, we played yesterday:
a nap in our natural habitat of tan couches,
ink stains on my hand and the rug
